Having anxiety isn’t just feeling anxious, it’s caring so much of what others think that you live in constant fear. It keeps your mind racing on small things that aren’t even a big deal. It is a battle against you and your caring mind.
When people say they’ll be there for you through your mental illness they mean until the moment you act out or do something wrong. As soon as your bad symptoms show they’ll run away and call you ‘toxic’.

Using your mental illness as an excuse: I don’t care about buying groceries, I have anxiety!
Using your mental illness as an explanation: I wanted to buy groceries, but I was unable to do it because my anxiety was acting up.
Before you judge a mentally ill / disabled person for “using their disability as an excuse to be lazy”, learn the difference between excusing something and explaining something.
9 out of 10 times, a mentally ill / disabled person would love to do the same stuff neurotypicals are able to do, but we can’t. You wouldn’t call a fish lazy for being unable to climb a tree, there is an explanation for that.
